One Good Film: "Two Days, One Night" (2015)

A Labor Day special that takes its title from the amount of time a factory worker named Sandra (Oscar-nominated Marion Cotillard, above) has to convince her co-workers to vote against a Christmas bonus that will be granted only if one of their own — Sandra — is laid off. The movie asks those co-workers and the audience a simple question: What’s the price of solidarity?

TIFF 2023: The Preview

FOMO – Fear Of Missing Out – is the curse that accompanies every film festival. This year’s Toronto International Film Festival, 200+ titles strong, begins today and runs through Sept. 17, and already my planned screening schedule is full of conflicts and cross-outs. Here are ten TIFF movies I hope to catch; keep an eye on this space for reviews of the ones I do manage to see.
